Heng An Standard Life Asia’s “MoreAcademy” fully supports CII and HKU SPACE to launch their first ILAS CPD Masterclass

Company  |  2023-04-27

With the participation of 200 financial advisers to promote industry-wide professionalism

Heng An Standard Life (Asia) Limited’s (“HASL Asia”, or the “Company” hereafter) “MoreAcademy” fully supports the Chartered Insurance Institute (“CII”) and HKU SPACE in launching their first Investment-Linked Assurance Scheme (ILAS) training programme, titled “CII LEAD Programme – ILAS CPD Masterclass”. The programme has received tremendously positive feedback with 200 financial advisers taking part in a total of four classes. The first class has already started on 27 April.

HASL Asia is committed to promoting industry-wide professionalism and investor education in a way to enhance insurance and financial planning services. The Company launched “MoreAcademy” in March, aiming to contribute to the long-term development of the sector by nurturing talent and raising professionalism. In view of the complexity and regulations required in the sales and services of ILAS, HASL Asia collaborates with CII and HKU SPACE to uplift financial advisers' professional skills.

The programme is divided into three parts: Introduction of Financial Planning and Portfolio Management; Product Design and Characteristics of ILAS; and Investment Management through ILAS and Market Opportunities & Challenges. The participants who completed the programme will earn six recognised CPD participation hours. In addition, with the support of HASL Asia, CII will also offer 200 CII Ordinary Memberships to financial advisers who completed the programme, enabling them to enrol in various continuous learning programmes. This will ensure that their knowledge remains up-to-date and at the forefront of the industry through ongoing learning and development.

Mr Kenny Siu, Regional Director for Hong Kong & Asia Pacific of CII, said, “CII is a professional organisation dedicated to building public trust in the insurance and financial planning profession, as well as imparting knowledge on insurance and financial management to the industry, with a focus on raising professional standards. Thanks to the tremendous support of HASL Asia, we are very pleased to partner with HKU SPACE again to launch the first ILAS programme. The programme is a breakthrough in on-the-job training for the insurance industry, aiming at building a competitive edge for financial advisers.”

Dr Olivia Lui, Senior Programme Director of College of Business and Finance of HKU SPACE, said, “HKU SPACE aspires to be a world-class centre of excellence for the provision of professional and continuing education in Hong Kong, Mainland China and the Asia Pacific region. We are very pleased to join forces with CII to launch the first ILAS programme, with the full support of ‘MoreAcademy’ established by HASL Asia. It demonstrates our mission to provide lifelong learning opportunities for the community and we strive to bring more development programmes to the industry in future.”

Ms Olivia Liu, Chief Executive of HASL Asia, said: “We are honoured to support CII and HKU SPACE to launch the first training programme for ILAS. With the support of our business partners and customers, we successfully doubled our new business premiums in 2022, reflecting the strong demand for long-term wealth-centric insurance solutions. To contribute our part to the insurance industry, we are dedicated to raising industry-wide professionalism through various training programmes or activities, empowering customers on their financial planning journey.”

“MoreAcademy” will continue to work with academic institutions and organisations, nurturing talent and contributing to the long-term development of the sector by providing the latest market updates, regulatory information and professional training. There will also be social media promotions of information related to insurance and financial planning to strengthen investor education.
